Chan Chor Kiu (陳楚翹) has been acting small roles in Hong Kong TVB series since 1996. From 1999 to 2000, she has taken many small roles. The first time I notice her was probably her first appearance on TV and also the longest screen time. It was in Criminal Investigator II / O Kei Sat Luk - O記實錄 (1996). She did 2 full episode as the main character here. She was Jean, a gorgeous looking prostitute with a broke boyfriend. Somehow her character makes me feel strongly about the life of a prostitute. See, Jean is pretty. She is a prostitute with many loyal customers. As usual she gambles and have mounting loan shark debts. She's clearly in the job for money. Sure this guy like her very much, but he is broke and he wanted her to retire from the job. When Jean got threatened by loan sharks, she called many of her other boyfriends for help but none turned up. They even threatened to sell her to a public prostitute center. So, this guy turned up paid the bills and saved the queen. Good ending, but he is a criminal. He steals and kill to make quick bucks to pay her debts. She despise his action. She ran away and turned to the police. Jean is a prostitute, not a criminal. The police did a bad job. She requested for police protection but they threat her like dirt sending an old cop to protect her. That mad guy transferred lots of money to Jean's bank account. When she was about to leave with the money to start a better life, the police took all her money and use her to lure the criminal. Money is gone, debt is high and she still need to be a good citizen to help the police to capture that guy. Jean appeared at the radio station to broadcast her message to that guy to that he falls into the trap. Instead of thanking her for her help, the radio DJ despise her as a prostitute. She did a fantastic job. The guy came to the radio station. Hello!!! where are the police who promised to protect her. That guy put a bullet on her head! Poor Jean. When I saw Jean lying helplessly with her eyes open and blood rushing out from her forehead, I feel like oh my god, she really doesn't deserve to die like that.
